CREATE A SAFE PLACE TO UNWIND FROM THE SRESS OF THE DAY

MY WELLNESS CRUSADE SERIES
Episode 4: Create a safe place to unwind from the stress of the day.

Our day-to-day demands can quickly take their toll on our well-being if we are not vigilant about caring for ourselves as best we can. Work stress can trigger a cascade of negative emotions and physical sensations from:
Anxiety (feeling worried, overwhelmed, or on edge about work demands or deadlines), to irritability (Easily frustrated or short-tempered with colleagues or loved ones) or even depression: (feeling down, hopeless, or a lack of motivation regarding your work).

One way we can ensure that we have an opportunity to relax, decompress and recuperate each day, is to create a comforting refuge to land when we arrive home.

Create a designated space to de-stress and unwind after a long day. A place where you can relate to the mantra: “I have the strength to face challenges. I choose peace in this moment.”

Here are some thoughts to bring this concept to life:

*Begin by scouting potential locations. Your habits can provide you with insight into the perfect spot. Any space in which you find it easy to let go of stress and anxiety can become your landing pad.
*Remember to consider the noise and activity levels when choosing it.
*Your haven should have all the comfort and privacy you need to unwind. Prepare a space with furniture and objects that put you in a relaxed frame of mind. Think plush throws, comfy pillows, and a supportive chair or chaise longue. Opt for warm lighting, dimmable lights or string lights for a cozy ambiance. Ensure the temperature is comfortable, neither too hot nor too cold..
*Make it truly yours with cherished mementos or items that reflect your hobbies. Keep your favorite reads within reach for an escape into a good story. Set up a water carafe or tea station with calming herbal teas.

When you return to your home after work, you want to fell a tranquil and safe shift occur inside of you as you settle in to the most personal of retreats.
